Jimmy Fund Supports Cancer Care and Research

For more than 30 years, Michael Intoccia has been building homes and renovating golf courses in Massachusetts as a self-employed real estate developer. Active in the professional community, Michael Intoccia supported the 2017 WEEI Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament.

The Jimmy Fund provides support to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston to help fund research of pediatric and adult cancer care. Whenever people donate to the Jimmy Fund, they can be assured that their money is used to advance Dana-Farber’s total patient care philosophy. This method of treatment ensures all patients receive unmatched compassionate support and service and that their psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.

Money given through the Jimmy Fund is also used to support basic research and clinical trials at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since most early-stage research cannot receive federal funding, resources from the Jimmy Fund help researchers make major breakthroughs. Meanwhile, clinical trials are an important way of developing less toxic, safe, therapeutic treatments.

Beyond that, the Jimmy Fund helps Dana-Farber maintain its state-of-the-art medical facilities. The fund supported the revitalization and expansion of the Longwood Center, Yawkey Center for Cancer Care, and Charles A. Dana Building. Further, the Molecular Cancer Imaging Facility is financially supported by the Jimmy Fund.
